Week 73

Kiddo has had a tiring week of playing and being crabby. Mom too.

She started the week with an unnatural attraction to her puppy shoes from this winter (that she is chewing on above). She HAD to wear them or else she would sob and kick and smack whoever was around, cats included. She seems to be over that now, though (knock on wood).

She has developed a cute habit of humming to herself. It sounds like "dup di dup di dup." We have a video of it but it's still on the camera. She also insisted for several meals that she could only eat on my lap. Any other location resulted in screams. This was much less cute.

Tonight she found an uncapped pen and drew all over a piece of paper (permissible), her legs (washable), and also her socks (probably not such a good idea). But I was too tired to care. It's been a hard week and she was happy or at least not screaming and hitting.

Oh, she also enjoyed being carried on her dad's shoulders, until she realized that she could totally fall off. Then she started screaming. Here she is pre-scream.

Tomorrow we drive to Kalispell after her afternoon nap, just when she is at her crabbiest. It is making me hyperventilate a little just thinking about it. More next week, if we survive.

Weekend Update

How many times have I used that title? Anyhow, here's what's been going on the past six weeks or so.

Still in management 'temporarily.' Last 'temporary' person in this position was in it for three years until she retired. That won't happen to me, I hope. The staying in it till retirement thing, not retiring in three years. That'd be pretty sweet!
Although, I'd have to win the lotto to retire in three years, as Eric and I are buying a house (we hope). We are, as they say, under contract: http://is.gd/1wuE
Got elected VP/President Elect of the regional library assn, so this year will be even busier.
Eric just got up and went into the bedroom and closed the door. That's weird.
The kiddo is definitely entering toddlerhood and approaching the 'terrible twos' quicker than her 16 months of age would have you believe.

72 weeks

Kiddo reaches her 72nd week today. I just accidentally erased a post about how she is helpful now. Here is what she does:

helps empty the dishwasher by piling silverware in the drawer for us to sort
helps load the washing machine if you hold her up so she can toss clothes in
helps pick up clothes and put them in the hamper whether or not they are dirty
helps sweep the porch and pick up her toys at bedtime (if she feels like it)
runs things back and forth between parents

She also likes to say 'uck' a lot lately. I'm not sure what she means by it. She says "DUCK" just fine. Maybe it's truck? Maybe it's something else that I can't repeat on this blog? Hmmm.

This week we went to the fair and LV loved the petting zoo. Her favorite was the chicken (probably because she thought it was a duck).

Eric doesn't think she thought the chicken was a duck. I know she KNOWS it's not a duck, but I also think she knows it's DUCKLIKE. And ducks are awesome. Not quite as good as doggies, but close. Fishies are also good.

71 Weeks is Coming Up Eights

Lorelei reaches the important 71 week milestone on a historic day: 8-8-8. If three eights is not lucky enough for you, adding the 7 and the 1 gives you a fourth. There is not much to add to her week since Mom already posted a 16 month update a few days ago. Instead I will use this post as an excuse to post some videos of LV with the Roomba and her trying to be helpful sweeping the deck. I assure you her sweeping was much better when the camera was off. There are also some belated pictures from her trip to see Grandma and Grandpa Schmehl over Fourth of Jul weekend.

16 months!

Just a quick post to commemorate kiddo's 16 months of existence. She is getting over what was misdiagnosed as an ear infection but was actually hand foot and mouth disease and is back in day care today, which is good because I am leaving today for work until Saturday. She is getting more and more verbal -- she actually greeted one of her day care pals by name today!

Week 70

We are beginning week 70 with a 102 degree fever. Poor dear, I was just thinking yesterday that it had been a while since she was sick...

Other than being sick and crabby, LV had a good week. We discovered the fun of playing with buckets of water out on the porch.

We also took a trip to the duck pond in town. This made Lorelei very happy because she loooves ducks. We tried to take her to the Bark in the Park dog event beforehand but she chose to sleep through it. That would have made her sad if she was ware of it because she also looooves dogs.
